ROLE

The Project Director plays a crucial role in consolidating and growing our business, overseeing operations from inception to delivery, and driving efficiencies to improve overall organization performance. They also support the estimating team during the proposal stage.

The Project Director is responsible for developing and overseeing major construction projects, providing guidance and support to project and construction management teams, and setting project strategy and success metrics.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing all aspects of a construction project, including problem-solving and fostering close relationships with workers to promote team unity.
  • Ensuring the completion of successful and profitable projects while maintaining the Company's reputation for delivering consistently high-quality results.
  • Implementing lessons learned and best practices from previous completed projects.
  • Serving as the principal liaison to the Client's senior management and maintaining regular relations with their representatives to support business development initiatives.
  • Adhering to the Company's core values, ensuring an inclusive workplace, and operating in accordance with health and safety, environment, quality, and efficiency standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Project Director sets objectives for each project discipline to comply with contract requirements and Company expectations regarding health, safety, environment, and quality compliance.

Responsibilities include:

  • Driving the implementation of Company core values at all levels and suggesting changes to achieve them.
  • Providing clear and concise reporting of project status and areas of risk to Executives, Senior Management, and Clients.
  • Supporting the estimating team in preparing and submitting Company qualifications and proposals to Clients, and identifying new clients/projects to pursue.
  • Interacting with Company corporate discipline leads and project construction leads to ensure required resources are available on time to comply with contract requirements.
  • Identifying project objectives and requirements, stakeholders, and other third-party engagements to comply with executed contracts and expectations.
  • Developing strategic and operational plans for each assigned project and providing overall leadership and guidance to Project Managers while implementing those plans.
  • Overseeing the preparation of milestone project deliverables as required by Company internal processes and contract requirements.
  • Supporting project staff in outlining work plans and assigning duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority.
  • Overseeing the overall progress of assigned projects through each phase.
  • Presenting and reporting on project progress and performance, providing overall financial oversight, and monitoring construction progress and budget throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Creating and driving an inclusive and positive culture, enabling career progression, and building an engaged and resilient team of professionals.
  • Liaising with Project Managers, Construction Managers, and Superintendents in developing project and construction execution plans, monitoring progress, and approving changes to ensure effective and efficient utilization of project resources within approved budget and schedule milestones.
  • Supervising that projects are built according to approved plans and supporting the Project Manager in closing out each project in a timely manner.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with Clients, their representatives, project stakeholders, and key partners to strengthen Company industry leadership and credibility.
  • Driving innovation, proposing technology improvements to industry state-of-the-art, and suggesting process changes.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications:

  • Engineering degree (Mechanical, Civil/Structural), or graduate of an applicable technical diploma program, and/or a combination of education and relevant experience.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 15 years in an oil & gas construction project management or project supervision role or large-scale construction experience.
  • 5-8 years working experience in a managerial role with a proven track record of successful project delivery.
  • Availability to periodically travel to project sites.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Understanding of the oil and gas pipeline & industrial construction industry and familiarity with relevant construction and safety codes, standards, and practices.
