Job Summary

The Government of Nunavut is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the position of Director, Kitikmeot Regional Operations. This senior management role requires a strong background in financial planning, budgeting, and human resource management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the departmental regional budget and administer pay and benefits to approximately 600 regional employees.
  • Assist in Internal Audit Services Division as needed.
  • Oversee information processing and management.
  • Direct the training of regional employees in data entry, inquiry, and report processing.
  • Ensure timely payment of all government accounts payable.
  • Provide advice and interpretation of the Financial Administration Manual (FAM) to regional departments and agencies.
  • Facilitate financial and pay and benefit services to the GN.
Requirements
  • An in-depth knowledge of public administration, financial planning, and budgeting.
  • Proven experience in the application of this knowledge in complex situations.
  • Knowledge of Financial Accounting Systems and Human Resource Information Systems.
  • Leadership and supervision of employees/performance management requirements.
Education and Experience

A recognized Post-Secondary Degree in Public Administration, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field, and an additional five (5) years of progressive management experience in a related field.

Equivalencies that consist of an acceptable combination of education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.

A professional accounting designation would be considered an asset.

Fluency in more than one of Nunavut's official language is an asset.

Knowledge of Inuit language, communities, culture, land, and Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit is an asset.
