Clinical Operations
Reporting directly to the Vice President of Clinical Affairs and Chief Nursing Executive, the Director plays a pivotal role in fostering excellence in quality, patient-centered care and practice through the integration of diverse programs and services. This position is accountable for establishing the operational framework for interprofessional care and treatment of patients across various care settings.
The Director ensures that programs, services, and processes:
- Incorporate evidence-based practices
- Promote quality care and practice at individual, team, and system levels.
In collaboration with senior leaders, managers, staff, and external partners, the Director takes a proactive leadership role in cultivating a just culture of care that is informed by evidence, responsive to emerging internal and external trends, and aligned with the organization’s strategic objectives. The Director supervises a team proficient in professional and regulatory matters, managing physical, human, and financial resources while anticipating future changes that may impact service delivery.
This role supports and ensures excellence in care delivery, enhancement of health outcomes, and compliance with care standards established by the organization and relevant health authorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with senior leaders, fellow directors, managers, and physicians to provide leadership to medical programs through active partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure that program services are delivered with clinical expertise and the application of professional standards and evidence-based practices.
- Work with managers to identify gaps in practice, training, and coaching needs for program teams.
- Lead efforts to create and sustain practice environments that foster a culture of safety and continuous quality improvement in partnership with staff, patients, and families.
- Oversee the allocation and monitoring of all physical, human, and financial resources, while anticipating future changes that may affect service delivery.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Master's Degree with progressive leadership experience in Medical and Surgical Clinical Services preferred; a suitable combination of undergraduate education and relevant experience will also be considered.
- Current registration with a relevant regulatory body.
- Proven leadership experience and the ability to build effective working relationships within a dynamic professional team across various disciplines.
- Demonstrated experience as a clinical operations leader committed to the continuous improvement of high-quality standards.
- Experience in a management role within a rapidly changing and restructuring environment.
- Exceptional communication and reporting skills (both oral and written).
- Ability to work independently and as an integral member of a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficiency in computer applications (e.g., Meditech, Microsoft Office, and Outlook).
- Bilingualism (English/French) is considered an asset.

North Bay Regional Health Centre (NBRHC) is a distinguished healthcare organization with three primary roles: providing acute care services to North Bay and surrounding communities, serving as the district referral center for specialist services for smaller communities, and offering specialized mental health services for all of northeast Ontario. With over 400 beds, our state-of-the-art regional health center is staffed by more than 150 physicians, 2300 employees, and 250 volunteers.
