Unit Clerk Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Unit Clerk to join our Ambulatory Care team at BC Cancer. As a Unit Clerk, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our clinical teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Transcribe and process clinician orders, ensuring timely and accurate completion of requisitions and scheduling of tests or services.
- Organize diagnostic and therapeutic services for patients, coordinating interrelated appointments and communicating related instructions to patients.
- Gather patient information to facilitate efficient patient flow, requesting, receiving, and transporting patient information to designated clinical areas.
- Perform receptionist duties, including greeting and registering patients, supporting wayfinding, and responding to inquiries.
- Participate in the onboarding and orientation of staff, demonstrating work procedures and answering related queries.
Requirements
- Grade 12, medical terminology, and graduation from a recognized Nursing Unit Clerk Program, plus one year's recent, related experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively, demonstrating physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to organize work, operate related equipment, and utilize a variety of computer software applications.
- Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada.
