As a Unit Clerk, Oncology Chemo Specialist, you will be the first point of contact for patients and families, providing exceptional care and support throughout their cancer journey. Key Responsibilities

  • Transcribe and process clinician orders, ensuring timely and accurate completion of requisitions for tests or services.
  • Organize diagnostic and therapeutic services for patients, coordinating appointments and communicating related instructions.
  • Gather patient information to facilitate efficient patient flow, requesting and transporting relevant documents as needed.
  • Perform receptionist duties, greeting and registering patients, and supporting wayfinding and triage inquiries.
  • Participate in onboarding and orientation of staff, demonstrating work procedures and answering related queries.

Requirements

  • Grade 12, medical terminology, and graduation from a recognized Nursing Unit Clerk Program, plus one year's recent, related experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively, maintaining a positive and respectful attitude.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position, including keyboarding and operating related equipment.
  • Ability to organize work, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada, as per TRC (2015) and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).
