As a Unit Clerk, Oncology Chemo Specialist, you will be the first point of contact for patients and families, providing exceptional care and support throughout their cancer journey. Your keen observation skills, compassionate communication, and organizational talents will make you a valuable member of our team.
Key Responsibilities
- Transcribe and process clinician orders, ensuring timely and accurate completion of requisitions for tests or services.
- Organize diagnostic and therapeutic services for patients, coordinating appointments and communicating related instructions.
- Gather patient information to facilitate efficient patient flow, requesting and transporting relevant documents as needed.
- Perform receptionist duties, greeting and registering patients, and supporting wayfinding and triage inquiries.
- Participate in onboarding and orientation of staff, demonstrating work procedures and answering related queries.
Requirements
- Grade 12, medical terminology, and graduation from a recognized Nursing Unit Clerk Program, plus one year's recent, related experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively, maintaining a positive and respectful attitude.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position, including keyboarding and operating related equipment.
- Ability to organize work, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada, as per TRC (2015) and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).
