Job Overview:
GFL Environmental seeks a seasoned Heavy Duty Mechanic or Apprentice Heavy Duty Mechanic to lead our maintenance team in Vernon, BC. As a key contributor, you will ensure the optimal performance and efficiency of our extensive fleet of trucks and heavy-duty equipment.

About the Position:
As a Heavy Duty Mechanic, you will oversee routine maintenance, repairs, and overhauls on our diesel, CNG, gas, and electrically operated trucks, as well as related heavy-duty equipment. Your technical expertise will guarantee the smooth operation, safety, and efficiency of our vehicles, enabling us to deliver exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Routine maintenance, repairs, and overhauls of diesel, CNG, gas, and electrically operated trucks, as well as associated heavy-duty equipment.
  2. Utilize various power tools, hand instruments, and advanced equipment.
  3. Prepare and submit daily reports, work orders, and procure necessary parts.
  4. Schedule repairs in M5 planner and procure necessary parts.
  5. Collaborate with the maintenance team to review mechanical write-ups and coordinate repair schedules.


Requirements:
A high school diploma or equivalent, along with a Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic certification or 4th-year Apprentice Heavy Duty Mechanic status, are required. Relevant safety-sensitive function criteria according to Company standards must also be met. The ideal candidate will follow detailed instructions, work independently, and maintain accurate records. Additionally, willingness to operate any necessary vehicle or equipment, exert physical effort, and utilize fine motor coordination are essential skills.
