Job Title: Advanced Injection Mould Designer

We are currently seeking an Advanced Injection Mould Designer for an industry-leading client located near Vaughan, Ontario.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop tooling for injection moulding processes, including fascia tooling and trim type tooling.
  • Participate in and support Continuous Improvement and WCM initiatives to drive efficiency and quality.
  • Collaborate with design teams to ensure tooling meets customer specifications and industry standards.
  • Manage single tool design projects and provide feedback to strategic partners.
  • Work closely with estimating and program managers to develop new tooling and engineering change quotes.
  • Participate in benchmarking of new tooling and equipment and provide accurate, timely feedback.
  • Analyze reports and department statistics to inform design decisions.
  • Assist in the implementation of plans to control and maintain safety, quality, 5S, cost, and efficiency for assigned areas.
  • Manage engineering changes within design and prepare files for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Work with the Design Team Leader to provide key date timing feedback and assist in scheduling production.
  • Design water, boring mill, and 3D contour feature working collaboratively to ensure design disciplines and design for manufacture are considered.
  • Complete part feasibility studies to ensure all aspects are considered for tool design.
  • Effectively interact with all departments within the company, including Design, Machining, Build, Scheduling, and Management.
  • Conduct internal and external design reviews, document results, and implement agreed-upon actions.
  • Mentor junior designers and provide guidance and support.
  • Flexibility to work outside of core hours as required to meet the demands of the engineering department.
  • Travel as required for investigational, benchmarking, or training purposes.
  • Maintain confidentiality and integrity.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum completion of Grade 12 diploma.
  • College diploma or University degree in a relevant technical field, or equivalent experience an asset.
  • Minimum of 6 years experience as a Designer, ideally with injection mould experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of Siemens NX Mold Wizard in all facets of tool design.
  • Strong mathematical and mechanical aptitude.
  • Strategic thinker with demonstrated ability to effectively solve problems.
  • Results-oriented and able to work under pressure.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
  • Well-developed organizational and time management skills.
  • Must be a team player who is self-motivated with a positive attitude.
  • Must be service-oriented.
  • Promote and facilitate positive communication with and between all employees.
