About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Cost Consultant/Senior Estimator to join our team at Moving2Canada. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cost estimating, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality results.

About the Position:

  • The successful candidate will provide a full range of cost estimating services to new and existing clients primarily within residential real estate.
  • They will prepare estimates at various stages of the design process, from conceptual design to pre-tender stage.
  • The Senior Cost Consultant will conduct needs analysis and innovate solutions that meet the client's unique requirements.
  • They will complete design efficiency analysis, along with full trade and elemental take-off.
  • Producing benchmarking reports for construction and development costs is also a key responsibility.
  • Conduct tender analysis and cost reconciliation exercises.
  • The successful candidate will prepare front-end cost reports to support cost estimates.
  • Undertaking and completion of periodic site inspections & estimating reports.
  • Assisting in preparation of change order review analysis and lifecycle cost estimates.
  • Maintaining ongoing client communication and resolving issues as required.
  • Managing client relationships in a manner that leads to contract renewal, referrals, and service expansion including up-sells and cross-sells.
  • Some overnight travel may be required on an as needed basis.
Responsibilities

The Senior Cost Consultant will be responsible for:

  • Providing expert cost estimating services to clients.
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients.
  • Collaborating with other business units to explore synergy opportunities.
  • Staying up-to-date with industry developments and best practices.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, the ideal candidate will have:

  • A degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • At least 5 years of experience in cost estimating.
  • Intermediate-level understanding of construction estimates.
  • General understanding of residential/ICI/civil projects.
  • Experience working at a consulting firm (billable environment) is an asset.
  • Member of RICS or LEED accreditation is an asset.
  • Excellent knowledge of Sharepoint, Excel, Word, and measurement software.
  • Working knowledge of CostX, Revit, AutoCAD, and MS Project is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of CIQS standard method of measurement – elemental/trade, Provincial lien act, and Standard contract conditions – CCDC.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
