Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Co-Op Cyber Security candidate to join our team at AltaLink. As a Co-Op Cyber Security, you will be responsible for responding to critical security-related incidents and assisting with security-related aspects of our internal security operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate as a core team member on multiple programs within Corporate Security.
  • Respond to critical computer security incidents and conduct advanced computer and network forensic investigation functions.
  • Support technical teams and third-party vendors to resolve incidents.
  • Generate vulnerability reports and provide analysis and recommendations.
  • Develop detailed remediation reports and recommendations for compliance and security improvements.
  • Communicate status of response, resolution, and final root cause analysis to stakeholders.
  • Contribute to security assessments of corporate, operations, and energy management systems, services, and programs.
  • Participate in and provide feedback to the technical review board as part of AltaLink change control process.
  • Conduct threat intelligence analysis, management, and distribution utilizing various intelligence sources.
  • Conduct Risk Assessment for new 3rd party vendors, services, and solutions.
  • Participate in internal and external audits and assessments involving AltaLink Security Operations teams.
  • Develop and manage effective working relationships with other departments, groups, and personnel.
  • Perform basic system administration duties.

Requirements

  • A current student in the Bachelor of Computer Science program or equivalent.
  • A student who has completed two or more years of study and is currently enrolled in a Co-op program at a recognized University.
  • Familiarity with current and emerging information security technologies and development methodologies.
  • Ability to research and analyze security threats and exploitation techniques.
  • Familiarity with UNIX, Linux, Microsoft operating systems, security tools, and related security software.
  • Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Proven ability/experience in the above-noted responsibilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interface with team members and customers.
  • Creative and analytical thinker who is driven and capable of working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understanding of emergency response and incident management processes.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
