Senior Materials Developer - Toolbox

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Materials Developer - Toolbox to join our Raw Materials Development (RMD) Team at Arc'teryx Limited. As a subject matter expert, you will be responsible for researching and developing industry-leading materials with fiber, yarn, and finish forward performance attributes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop innovative materials with high performance, durability, and technical feasibility
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Design, Merch, Product Development, Wear Testing, RM Sourcing, and Color Ops
  • Build knowledge and skills of the RMD team, guiding on-time commercialization and material separation in the market
  • Evaluate technical capabilities of suppliers and collaborate with Raw Materials Sourcing to stage commercialization with mill partners
  • Assess risks and communicate effectively to leadership and senior leadership around material development status
  • Test and evaluate materials using Arc'teryx custom and industry standard lab testing
  • Pursue material trademarks with brand partners
  • Evaluate results of development initiatives to assess performance and commercial/production feasibility
  • Develop a thorough understanding of business priorities to focus developments to deliver against short and long-term needs
  • Play a lead role in cross-functional stage-gate meetings and represent the function with confidence
  • Plan and lead RMD team meetings

Requirements:

  • In-depth knowledge of performance knit, woven, waterproof breathable, and composite textiles
  • Previous materials laboratory testing experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and PLM systems
  • Highly flexible and adaptable when faced with ambiguity
