Position Overview

The Indigenous Relations Liaison plays a pivotal role in fostering positive relationships with local Native American communities, driving the success of Kiewit's 264th Street Interchange Project. This position is based in our project site office in Langley, British Columbia.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with Native American communities.
  • Collaborate with communities to establish and implement effective Indigenous Participation Plans.
  • Participate in meetings with Native American communities to ensure open communication and mutual understanding.
  • Support construction and procurement teams in identifying employment, training, and subcontracting opportunities, ensuring timely notification to local Native American communities.
  • Facilitate delivery of Indigenous cultural sensitivity and awareness training for the project team.
  • Maintain regular check-ins with Native American communities through various communication channels (in-person meetings, phone calls, or email) to discuss employment and training opportunities.
  • Cultivate partnerships with Native American organizations, ISETs, and other relevant groups to identify and leverage additional training opportunities.
  • Engage in community activities that promote cross-cultural understanding and inclusion of Native American values.
  • Promote Native American values and foster a workplace culture that respects these principles.
Reporting and Tracking

The Indigenous Relations Liaison will be responsible for tracking and reporting on the implementation of the Indigenous Participation Plan, as well as collaborating with Native American communities to update the plan as necessary.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Indigenous Relations, geography, archeology, anthropology, political science, public administration, forestry, natural resources, regional planning, business administration, or a related field.
  • A minimum of five years of recent experience in establishing and maintaining productive working relationships with Native American groups and providing contracting, employment, and/or training opportunities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Base compensation for this role is $70,000-$85,000 per year, with actual compensation subject to variation due to factors such as education, experience, skillset, and location.
