Job Title: Carpenter - Journeyman

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Carpenter - Journeyman to join our team at BELFOR. The successful candidate will have a strong background in carpentry, with a valid Journeyman or Red Seal certification.

Key Responsibilities:
• Demonstrate expertise in the safe operation of hand and power tools, including temporary generators, ladders, table saws, routers, and sanding equipment.
• Erect and disassemble scaffolding, ensuring a safe working environment.
• Assist with demolition and debris disposal, maintaining a clean and organized worksite.
• Prepare material take-offs and read blueprints, applying knowledge of building codes and construction math.
• Set up and take down poly containment and drop sheets, ensuring a secure and efficient work process.
• Install insulation materials and vapour barrier, adhering to industry standards.
• Apply advanced experience in wood and steel stud framing, finish carpentry skills, and installation of wood framing, trim, baseboard, casing, doors, frames, and sheathing.
• Secure exterior building materials, including roofing and siding, to prevent damage and ensure a watertight seal.
• Construct and install secure temporary and permanent partitions, maintaining a safe and organized worksite.
• Practice good housekeeping, ensuring a safe and non-cluttered worksite at all times.
• Provide excellent customer service, responding to queries and concerns in a professional and timely manner.
• Work under time constraints to meet specific timelines, prioritizing tasks and managing time effectively.
• Ensure attention to detail, safeguarding other people's property and information, and maintaining confidentiality.
• Participate in and demonstrate an understanding of safety principles and practices, following all safety policies and procedures to support a safe working environment.
• Comply with all BELFOR policies and procedures, as well as legislative requirements, to ensure a safe and compliant work environment.
• Proactively communicate job site conditions and concerns that may or are affecting completion of the job to the appropriate person.
• This role may require acting as a lead periodically, as designated by the manager.
• Attend all BELFOR-sponsored training courses to enhance skills and knowledge.

Qualifications:
• Journeyman or Red Seal certification required.
• 4+ years' experience in the field, with a strong background in carpentry and construction.
• Knowledgeable in the use and application of tools and materials for job completion.
• Construction / Restoration / Insurance experience required.
• Comprehensive understanding of customer service, principles, and practices.
• Eligible to operate a motor vehicle per BELFOR's vehicle policy.
• Ability to work within a team or independently as needed.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic computer and/or tablet/iPad experience.
• Willing to work evenings, on call, and weekends when requested.
• Periodic travel may be required.
• Criminal Record Check.

Physical Demands:
• Frequent lifting from 5-40 lbs, unassisted (from 35-65% of the time).
• Occasional lifting from 41 lbs +, assisted (up to 50% of the time).
• Access and mobility in tight spaces.
• Fit Testing – half and full face mask as needed, annual certification required.
• Working at Heights - over 5 feet, periodically.
• Sustained periods of standing, sitting, walking, bending, and kneeling.
