Job Title:

Assistant Professor - Data Science Position

Job Summary:

The University of British Columbia is seeking a highly qualified candidate for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Data Science. The successful candidate will have a strong background in neuroscience, mental health disorders, computer science, and/or related fields, with a track record of success in collaborative and convergent research at the interface of these disciplines.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead an independent research program with potential to achieve international recognition in the next five to ten years.
  • Develop a high-quality, original, and innovative research program that leverages the expertise in the Department and the DMCBH.
  • Participate in teaching activities at the graduate and postgraduate level in the Department, including in the Graduate Program in Neuroscience and Masters Program in Translational Psychiatry.
  • Provide mentorship and training to undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate learners.
  • Contribute to fostering an environment that promotes inclusivity and embodies values of respect, integrity, compassion, collaboration, and equity.
Requirements:
  • Ph.D., M.D., or M.D./Ph.D. with a strong background in neuroscience, mental health disorders, computer science, and/or related fields.
  • Track record of success in collaborative and convergent research at the interface of these disciplines.
  • Ability to develop a high-quality, original, and innovative research program.
  • Ability to participate in teaching activities and provide mentorship and training to learners.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive environment and embodying values of respect, integrity, compassion, collaboration, and equity.
