Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused individual to join our team as a Shipper/Dispatcher at Watson Building Supplies, a GMS Company. This role is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of safety, service, and efficiency in our delivery operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the delivery team to ensure timely and accurate delivery of building materials to our customers.
- Track and communicate delivery information to operations, warehouse, delivery teams, and customers to ensure seamless communication and coordination.
- Work with other team members to ensure delivery success and exceed customer expectations.
- Manage inventory levels to ensure adequate stock and minimize waste.
- Document and report on required metrics and activities to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Communicate issues and successes to superiors in a timely manner to ensure prompt resolution and improvement.
- Communicate all information and instructions respectfully to maintain a positive and professional work environment.
- Assist with loading and unloading trucks in the warehouse when needed to ensure efficient use of resources.
- Assist with deliveries at job sites when needed to provide excellent customer service.
- Act as an ambassador of Watson Building Supplies with all employees and customers to promote a positive company image.
- Follow all regulations, company policies, and procedures to ensure a safe and compliant work environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the success of the team.
Requirements:
- Secondary education in business, commerce, supply chain management, management, or equivalent experience and on-the-job training.
- Effective written and oral communication skills to ensure clear and concise communication with team members and customers.
- Previous experience in the building materials supply industry is preferred, but not required.
- Valid forklift certification and experience are required to ensure safe and efficient use of equipment.
- Minimum of a valid G-class license with a good driving record - DZ class is preferred.
- Ability to problem-solve, prioritize, and manage multiple assignments to ensure timely completion and high-quality results.
- Strong computer skills to effectively use software and systems to manage inventory, track deliveries, and communicate with team members and customers.
- Ability to work under pressure and comfortable with tight deadlines and customer demands to ensure excellent customer service.
- Ability to cope with last-minute changes and adapt to changing circumstances to ensure seamless delivery operations.
- Physical Requirements:
- Sitting for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 80lbs.
- Climbing up and down stairs.
- Bending and standing with weight.
