Job Summary:

We are seeking a compassionate Care Aide to join our dynamic team at qathet General Hospital in Powell River, BC. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide high-quality patient care, support, and companionship to individuals in need.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist patients with daily living activities, such as bathing, grooming, and dressing
  • Respond to call bells and alarms to ensure timely assistance
  • Monitor patient progress, symptoms, and behavioral changes, reporting significant observations to the healthcare team
  • Transport patients using mechanical aids, such as wheelchairs and stretchers, while adhering to established lifting and safety techniques
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients and staff
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the healthcare team
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • Grade 10 (including English 10) or equivalent education and experience
  • Successful completion of a recognized Health Care Assistant Program or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Eligibility for registration with the BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and proficiently both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to deal with others effectively and respectfully
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
