Natural Gas Operations Specialist

Apex Utilities Inc. is a provincially regulated natural gas distribution utility committed to delivering safe, reliable, and clean energy to over 82,000 customers across Alberta. With a network of 16 district offices and over 21,000 km of pipelines, our company prioritizes employee development and health & safety.
**Job Summary:**
This unionized role involves operating and maintaining natural gas pipeline systems, ensuring documentation compliance, responding to emergencies, performing construction tasks, and representing the company to customers and the public. On-call duties are required on a rotational basis for emergency responses.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Efficiently operate and maintain natural gas pipeline systems
- Ensure timely completion of required documentation as per regulations
- Respond to natural gas related emergencies
- Perform construction tasks according to policies and procedures
- Represent the Company to customers and the public
**Requirements:**
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Gas Utilities Operator course
- Three years in a related field with one year involving operations functions of a natural gas utility
- Valid Province of Alberta Class 5 driver's license
- Clean driver's abstract
- Ability to perform all necessary physical requirements
**Preferred Skills:**
- Mechanical aptitude and dexterity when using tools, equipment, and instruments
- Good communication skills, decision-making skills, and strong work ethic
- Ability to establish good working relationships and provide excellent customer service
- Proficiency in various computer software systems including Microsoft Office suite
- Good judgment and motivation for independent work
- Safe work habits and adherence to safety regulations
