Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff in the food division to grow their knowledge and abilities.
  • Accurately account for transactions in the general ledger accounts.
  • Prepare and review working papers that support account balances and investigate any issues.
  • Prepare and post journal entries.
  • Perform account reconciliations.
  • Review monthly HST returns and payments.
  • Analyze accounts and costs for reasonableness and consistency.
  • Prepare various analytical and ad-hoc reports.
  • Perform month-end and year-end financial statements for presentation to senior management.
  • Work with external accountants to facilitate the preparation of externally prepared year-end financial statements.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards.
  • Review and authorize vendor payments.
  • Prepare financial reports for senior management as requested.
  • Work closely with the Director of Finance on various projects.
  • Participate in software advancements.
  • Main point of contact for CRA inquiries.
Requirements:
  • CPA designation.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Payroll and benefits knowledge.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with others.
  • Experience with a public accounting firm is an asset.
  • High degree of professional ethics and integrity.
  • Able to handle multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize effectively.
