About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Procurement Specialist to join our team at Mama's Grocery. As a key member of our purchasing department, you will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing merchandise for resale.

Key Responsibilities
  • Study market reports, trade periodicals, and sales promotion materials to stay up-to-date on industry trends and opportunities.
  • Arrange products according to planograms to ensure optimal store displays and customer engagement.
  • Establish and maintain contact with suppliers to negotiate prices, discounts, credit terms, and transportation arrangements.
  • Maintain adequate stock levels to meet customer demand and minimize waste.
  • Oversee the distribution of merchandise to outlets and ensure timely delivery.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and respond to customer inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Review requirements of the establishment and determine the quantity and type of merchandise to purchase.
  • Select and purchase merchandise for resale, considering factors such as quality, price, and availability.
  • Supervise the work of other buyers and provide guidance and support as needed.
  • Visit trade shows, showrooms, factories, and product design events to stay informed about new products and trends.
Requirements
  • 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of spreadsheet software, including MS Excel.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred.

Work Hours

35 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
