Job Summary

Mama\u0027s Grocery is seeking a skilled Produce Buyer to join our team. As a key member of our procurement team, you will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing high-quality produce for our wholesale establishment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Study market reports, trade periodicals, and sales promotion materials to stay up-to-date on industry trends and opportunities.
  • Arrange products according to planograms to ensure optimal display and sales.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to negotiate prices, discounts, credit terms, and transportation arrangements.
  • Maintain adequate stock levels to meet customer demand.
  • Oversee the distribution of merchandise to outlets and ensure timely delivery.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Review requirements of the establishment and determine the quantity and type of merchandise to purchase.
  • Select and purchase merchandise for resale, ensuring high-quality products at competitive prices.
  • Supervise the work of other buyers and provide guidance and support as needed.
  • Visit trade shows, showrooms, factories, and product design events to stay informed about new products and trends.
Requirements
  • 3-4 years of experience in a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of wholesale operations, including inventory management and supply chain logistics.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and other relevant software.
