Grande Prairie, Canada Via Separations, Inc. Full time

Through our mission to eliminate CO2 emissions from industrial manufacturing processes, Via Separations is seeking an Experienced Plant Operator to play a key role in the daily operation and maintenance of our Project KODIAK, a newly-constructed membrane filtration plant located within the International Paper pulp mill in Grande Prairie, Alberta.

Key Responsibilities:
  • We are looking for a skilled Plant Operator to conduct routine shift rounds and inspections of all operating equipment within the KODIAK facility.
  • The successful candidate will troubleshoot and diagnose equipment or membrane failures, conduct general facility preservation and housekeeping, and perform general maintenance tasks such as equipment lubrication, valve packing adjustments, and repairs of minor leaks.
  • Additionally, the Plant Operator will establish safe system layups and set LOTO isolations in support of maintenance evolutions, review maintenance boundaries, and conduct pre-inspections and certifications of worksites prior to line breaks or cut-ins by maintenance parties.
  • They will also conduct manual changeouts of membrane housings, perform performance testing out-of-service membranes, and record test results. Furthermore, the Plant Operator will draw fluid samples from process streams, transport samples to the appropriate laboratories, conduct chemical analyses on samples, record test results in chemistry databases, and properly dispose of samples in accordance with test procedures.
Requirements:
  • A Class 5 Drivers License and H2S Alive (or equivalent) Safety Ticket are required for this position.
  • First Aid and Basic CPR certifications are also necessary, along with basic computer literacy (email, virtual meetings, spreadsheets, word processing).
  • The ideal candidate will have the ability to work in rotating shifts up to 12 hrs (days and nights), conduct physical labor (lifting heavy material, operating hand tools, turning valves, working in tight spaces), and work while wearing a negative pressure respirator (up to 2hrs).
  • The ability to work at heights up to 36 ft (AWP, ladders, scaffolding) is also a requirement.
