Design Systems Lead

Epic Games is seeking a highly skilled Design Systems Lead to join our dynamic team and contribute to the development of innovative game systems for our collaboration with Disney.

As a Design Systems Lead, you will be responsible for designing, prototyping, and iterating on complex design systems that support the core gameplay and creative vision. You will work closely with leads to develop and validate a thoughtful metagame experience, and collaborate with production and leads to identify and prioritize work essential for creating these systems.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing and implementing game systems that delight, engage, and retain players
  • Working with leads to develop and validate a thoughtful metagame experience
  • Collaborating with production and leads to identify and prioritize work essential for creating these systems
  • Generating documentation and using spreadsheets and flow charts to model game systems and account for how different types of players will interact with them
  • Fine-tuning the player experience through playtesting, iteration, game balancing, and rebalancing

We are looking for a candidate with 7+ years of experience shipping multiple AAA titles as a Game Designer, and 2+ years in a Lead Game Designer role, including experience managing or leading a team. Excellent knowledge of development tools, game engines (preferably UE 4/5), and pipelines is required. A solid understanding of game design principles, including core experience, retention, player progression, player motivations, balance, and more, is also essential.
