What We Do
As a Lead Systems Designer at Epic Games, you will be at the heart of our dynamic team, designing and implementing game systems that delight, engage, and retain players. You will work closely with leads to develop and validate a thoughtful metagame experience, and collaborate with production to identify and prioritize work essential for creating these systems.
In this role, you will
- Design, prototype, and iterate on various complex design systems that support the core gameplay and creative vision.
- Work closely with leads to develop and validate a thoughtful metagame experience.

- Take charge of driving the design and implementation of these systems to a high standard.
- Generate documentation and use spreadsheets and flow charts to model game systems and account for how different types of players will interact with them.
- Fine-tune the player experience through playtesting, iteration, game balancing, and rebalancing, and continuously look for ways to improve or expand on the game experience.
What we're looking for
- 7+ years of experience shipping multiple AAA titles as a Game Designer.
- 2+ years in a Lead Game Designer role, including experience managing or leading a team.
- Excellent knowledge of development tools, game engines (preferably UE 4/5), and pipelines.
- A solid understanding of game design principles including core experience, retention, player progression, player motivations, balance, and more.
- Ability to take ownership and communicate initiatives to ensure they are completed on time and in line with the design vision.
