About the Role
Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a skilled Wellness Support Worker to join our team in Bella Coola, BC. As a member of our interdisciplinary community health team, you will provide a variety of day-to-day physical, emotional and social supports, advocacy, life skills assistance, information, resources and demonstrations to designated population groups in the community.
Key Responsibilities
- Work as a member of an interdisciplinary community health team.
- Provide a variety of day-to-day physical, emotional and social supports, advocacy, life skills assistance, information, resources and demonstrations to designated population groups in the community.
- Report back to interdisciplinary team on clients' progress and condition.
- Establish working relationships with various agencies.
- Co-facilitate support groups, cultural activities and public education.
About the Community
Bella Coola is a small community located in a mountain valley at the head of the North Bentinck Channel, 500 km north of Vancouver. The community has a population of about 1800 people and is served by the Bella Coola General Hospital, which provides a range of medical services, including emergency care, laboratory services, and mental health support.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will have a certificate in a Community Social Service or related program and two years of recent, related experience working with designated population groups. You will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
