Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cardiovascular Technologist to join our team at Providence Health Care. As a key member of our Catheterization Laboratory, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures, ensuring the highest level of patient care and safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform diagnostic and interventional angiography procedures in the cardiac and vascular catheterization labs, cardiac procedure room, and electrophysiology labs under the direction of cardiologists.
  • Conduct daily start-up and quality control procedures of cardiac and vascular imaging equipment, including the Picture Archiving and Communications System (PACS), to ensure optimal performance and patient safety.
  • Prepare the work area for each procedure by setting up accessory equipment, such as contrast media injectors, OCT, IVUS, FFR, and ICE, in conjunction with registered nurses, and orientate equipment users to ensure proper operating and safety procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and staff on topics such as explaining procedures, consent, allergies, and patient data entry.
  • Input, update, and annotate patient and procedural data by entering patient ID, supplies utilized, image sequence, and procedures performed into the digital imaging system.
  • Ensure digital images and sequences acquired during procedures are properly transferred by checking the Picture Archiving and Communications System (PACS).
  • Provide instruction and training to staff, student technologists, and other staff members on procedures, equipment, and techniques as required.
  • Participate in quality control and troubleshooting of equipment malfunctions, reporting issues to the Catheterization Laboratory Supervisor or service engineer.
  • Perform supply and equipment inventory duties for the Catheterization Lab, adhering to established policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Participate in staff meetings and contribute to the updating of procedure manuals.
Requirements
  • Graduation from a recognized school of medical imaging, plus two (2) years of recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) certification.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work effectively with others.
  • Ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to organize work and operate related equipment.
