Your Opportunity:

Rimbey Long Term Care is an 84-bed unit located in a rural setting where Licensed Practical Nurses work under the supervision of Registered Nurses within an interdisciplinary team environment to provide client and family-centered care. This environment is suitable for candidates who have a strong interest and skills in providing care to the elderly client, including those diagnosed with Alzheimer Disease or other dementias.

Job Summary:

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you will be part of an interprofessional healthcare team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level, and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family-centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:
  • Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program.
  • Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA).
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:
  • Extensive knowledge of Care planning and tracking tools, InterRai LTCF, Netcare, CCHSS, Microsoft Office - Excel and Word, Connect Care.
  • Must have moderate computer skills, with a working knowledge of office equipment.
  • Great interpersonal communication skills, experience in conflict management and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention, ability to multitask and be a critical thinker in stressful and challenging situations.
  • Dementia care and management of adverse behaviors.
  • Be comfortable in a team working environment as well as ability to work independently with critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • An understanding of wound care process, behavioral management, and conflict resolution, as well as training in the Continuing Care Facility Living Nurse Connect Care course would be an asset.
