Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and customer-focused Transit Operations Specialist to join our team at the City of Hamilton. As a key member of our transit team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our public transportation system.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate transit vehicles on designated routes and schedules, working a variety of shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to all transit clients, maintaining a high degree of professionalism and ethics even in challenging situations.
  • Collect fares, issue transfers, and ensure the validity of passes, while also reporting incidents, accidents, and injuries immediately.
  • Perform daily vehicle inspections, monitor vehicle performance, and report any irregularities to control.
  • Work in accordance with applicable Health & Safety legislation and corporate policies, maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.

Requirements

  • Valid Class 'G' driver's license and a point-free driving record.
  • Strong direct customer service skills, with previous experience working with the public and resolving conflicts.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Previous commercial driving experience or transit bus driving experience is an asset.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, including sitting for prolonged periods and wearing required personal protective equipment.
