Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and customer-focused Transit Operator to join our team at the City of Hamilton. As a key member of our transit team, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional customer service and ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our transit vehicles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate transit vehicles safely and efficiently, adhering to schedules and routes.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, responding to customer inquiries and resolving issues in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Collect fares and issue transfers, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Monitor and report any incidents, accidents, or safety concerns.
  • Perform daily vehicle inspections and maintain a high level of vehicle cleanliness and maintenance.
  • Work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Requirements
  • Valid Class 'G' driver's license and a point-free driving record.
  • Strong customer service skills, with experience working with the public and resolving conflicts.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Previous commercial driving experience or transit bus driving experience is an asset.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, including sitting for prolonged periods and wearing required personal protective equipment.
