Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Pharmaceutical Care Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our pharmacy program, you will be responsible for providing specialized pharmaceutical care to patients receiving specialty medications, including biologics. Your expertise will ensure safe and effective therapy for patients with complex medical conditions.

Your duties will include:

  • Drug Therapy Monitoring: Monitor patients' response to specialty or biologics medications, assess adverse effects, and collaborate with healthcare providers to adjust treatment plans as needed.
  • Evaluate potential drug interactions: With other medications or medical conditions, provide recommendations to minimize risks and optimize patient outcomes.
  • Inventory Management: Oversee the inventory of specialty medications, ensuring proper storage, handling, and disposal in compliance with regulatory guidelines.
  • Quality Assurance: Maintain accurate patient records and participate in quality assurance programs to enhance the safety and effectiveness of specialty medication services.
  • Continuous Education: Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in specialty and biologics medications, attending seminars, conferences, and training programs to enhance professional knowledge.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (BSc) or PharmD degree from an accredited institution.
  • Licensed and registered with the Alberta College of Pharmacists.
  • A minimum of 1 year's experience as a licensed pharmacist.
  • Experience working in Specialty pharmacy.
  • Proficiency and competence with Microsoft Office applications.
