Automation Test Developer for a Medical Leader

As an Automated Test Developer for a leading medical technology firm, you will be responsible for the deployment, documentation, and maintenance of automated tests driven by APIs and the automation of the GUI. Automated integration testing is a core part of the software development process, and you will be working on this as part of a team that values the role of quality assurance.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop automated test procedures and software based upon requirements
  • Design, develop, and execute reusable and maintainable automated scripts and processes, as well as automated build and/or deployment scripts
  • Use software development tools for back-end server test automation as well as GUI automation and/or developing test harnesses using a development or scripting language
  • Execute tests and prepare reports on test progress and regressions
  • Keep abreast with the various testing tools capabilities
  • Have strong scripting knowledge and be comfortable with Unix (Solaris, Linux) and Windows
  • Have a strong understanding of all levels of functional software testing, including regression and acceptance testing
  • Have a solid commitment to quality software development with solid analytical skills

Requirements:

  • B.Sc. in Computer Science/Software Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3+ years of experience as an automation test developer, or 3+ years as a developer with exposure to testing processes
  • Strong understanding of Java/J2EE, EJB, OOA/OOD, PL/SQL, Oracle, and unit testing frameworks such as Junit
  • Strong understanding of web-based technologies such as HTML, JavaScript, HTTP/CSS, XML
  • Strong verbal and written communication and knowledge transfer skills
  • Attention to detail; ability to quickly absorb new concepts and technologies

What You Will Do:

  • Develop test cases with accurate, economical, repeatable, traceable, appropriate, and self-standing qualities
  • Analyze problems and troubleshoot potential product defects
  • Effectively communicate to the development staff the potential product defects
  • Create accurate defect artifacts that communicate customer impact and provide information to assist with the defect investigation and resolution
  • Prepare and train team members on product features and test environments
  • Meet schedule constraints throughout the software development cycle
  • Design automated tests for not only function, but performance and stability
  • Assemble and configure the integrated solution under test
  • Understand how a feature is implemented in order to develop test cases for the functionality, performance, stress, and fault conditions
