At the City of Hamilton, we are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team as a Certified Healthcare Professional. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated individual who is passionate about delivering exceptional patient care in a long-term care setting.

About the Role

We are looking for a Registered Nurse with excellent clinical skills and experience in geriatrics, or completion of a course in geriatric nursing. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated knowledge and experience with RAI – MDS and be proficient in completing electronic documentation using PointClick Care.

The successful candidate will provide professional nursing care to residents, direct and supervise nursing care given by Registered Practical Nurses and Personal Support Workers within an assigned unit. They will work closely with the Director of Nursing, attending physician, nurse managers, recreation, dietary and other ancillary personnel to ensure high-quality care is delivered.

Responsibilities

  • Assess residents' conditions through recognizing and interpreting symptoms and signs and where appropriate, institute remedial health measures.
  • Provide nursing care in accordance with administrative policies, physicians' orders, established standards and recognized nursing principles.
  • Assume responsibility for the nursing care of the acutely ill residents.
  • Participate in medication administration to residents.
  • Supervise the medication administration by R.P.N. staff.
  • Responsible for safekeeping of drug and narcotic keys and shift count in accordance with controlled drug policy.
  • Observe, report and record symptoms and conditions of residents.
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate and complete records of nursing observations and care.
  • Develop and maintain up-to-date MDS Assessments, Resident Assessment Protocols (RAPS) and corresponding Resident Care Plans.

Qualifications

  • Must be registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Demonstrated experience in Long Term Care with understanding of the Long Term Care Homes Act & Regulations is preferable.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with RAI – MDS is considered essential.
  • Experience in completing electronic documentation using PointClick Care would be an asset.
  • Demonstrated competency in completing computer documentation is required.

Compensation Package

We offer a competitive salary of $98,000 - $125,000 per year, commensurate with experience, plus benefits including comprehensive health insurance, pension plan, and generous paid time off.
