About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pharmacy Operations Manager to join our team at Loblaw Companies. As a key member of our Pharmacy leadership team, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our Pharmacy department, ensuring that our customers receive exceptional service and that our business is running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and provide guidance and direction to Pharmacy staff, ensuring that they have the necessary skills and knowledge to provide excellent customer service and to meet the needs of our patients.
  • Responsible for hiring and managing the performance of all Pharmacy staff, including conducting performance evaluations and providing coaching and development opportunities.
  • Responsible for creating Pharmacy schedules and arranging for vacation and shift coverage, ensuring that our Pharmacy is always fully staffed and ready to serve our customers.
  • Accountable for the financial and operational success of the department, including managing budgets and controlling costs.
  • Obtain and review budgeted sales and net contribution of the Pharmacy to the Grocery Store, identifying areas for improvement and implementing strategies to increase sales and profitability.
  • Identify and report sales opportunities both internally and externally, working closely with our sales team to develop and implement sales strategies.
  • Review and control costs at all levels within Loblaw Pharmacy, ensuring that we are operating efficiently and effectively.
  • Ensure Pharmacy Operations follow OCP and Company Regulations, Policies and Procedures, maintaining a high level of compliance and adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure medication and behind the counter inventory levels are adequate to meet patients' needs, managing inventory levels and ordering supplies as needed.
  • Attend meetings as assigned, staying informed and up-to-date on company initiatives and policies.
  • Prepare, dispense, and control medications accurately and timely to patients, ensuring that our Pharmacy is always fully stocked and ready to serve our customers.
  • Counsel patients regarding new and additional medications in a friendly, positive, and pro-active interaction, providing excellent customer service and ensuring that our patients are well-informed and empowered to make informed decisions about their health.
  • Create awareness and educate customers through public relations (public health days, clinics, etc.), promoting our Pharmacy services and products to our customers and the wider community.
  • Provide timely and positive resolution to patient's needs and Prescriber's requests/issues, ensuring that our customers receive exceptional service and that their needs are met.
  • Injection administration, lab testing, expanded scope of Practice for prescribing (Minor Ailments, etc.), staying up-to-date on the latest developments and advancements in Pharmacy practice.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science, Pharmacy and a Class A Pharmacists license a must.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in retail Pharmacy environment.
  • Injection Certification, CPR certification.
  • Strong verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong people management skills and the ability to motivate and coach others.
  • Excellent customer service skills and a strong sense of professionalism.
  • Proven ability to build the business using community-based marketing strategies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills including the experience formulating and executing action plans.
  • Strong personal computing skills (MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS Word) as well as knowledge of Healthwatch Pharmacy Computer system a definite asset.
