Pathology Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled and certified Pathology Assistant to join our team at Nova Scotia Health Authority. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing Gross Room and Autopsy activities, working closely with pathologists and laboratory management to ensure accurate and timely diagnoses.
About YouWe are looking for a candidate with a strong background in anatomy, physiology, histology, pathology, and medical terminology. You should be certified as a Pathology Assistant by the Canadian Certification Council of Pathologists' Assistants or the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification. Experience with Cerner LIS and Dragon is an asset.
Key Responsibilities- Perform Gross Room and Autopsy activities, including procuring tissues and organs, dissecting tissues, and submitting samples for pathological diagnosis.
- Work closely with pathologists and laboratory management to ensure accurate and timely diagnoses.
- Provide expertise and support to Medical Laboratory Technologists performing grossing.
- Assist pathologists with autopsy prosection and tissue procurement.
- Certification as a Pathology Assistant by the Canadian Certification Council of Pathologists' Assistants or the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification.
- Graduate of an approved MSc Pathologist Assistant program preferred.
- Experience with Cerner LIS and Dragon is an asset.
- Strong background in anatomy, physiology, histology, pathology, and medical terminology.
- Excellent customer service, leadership, and technical skills.
We offer a competitive hourly rate of $37.29 - $45.40, as well as a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, and a defined benefit pension plan.
