Accountant Job Opportunity

The Municipal Group of Companies, a leading diversified organization in the Atlantic Provinces, is seeking a skilled Accountant to join their Environmental Services division based in Lower Sackville, NS.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a detail-oriented and organized individual with a solid understanding of full-cycle accounting and financial analysis. The ideal candidate will be responsible for completing month-end processes for multiple companies, ensuring accuracy and proficiency in Excel. Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and coordinate tasks are critical in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Validate revenue and expense details in multiple systems using Excel
  • Assist with AR billing, payroll, benefits, and government remittances
  • Prepare bank reconciliations
  • Perform ad-hoc reporting and financial analysis
  • Provide assistance and backup to payables and receipting staff
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in accounting or finance, or equivalent work experience
  • Working towards a designation is considered an asset
  • Strong knowledge of accounting and controls
  • Advanced skill in Excel and working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Superior organization and time management skills
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
