About the Opportunity

At Nova Scotia Health Authority, we are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Information Specialist to support various aspects of our library's operations.

  • Access Services: Provide assistance with cataloging, classification, and retrieval of materials.
  • Training & Education: Develop and deliver training sessions for staff on information literacy and research skills.
  • Copyright & Permissions: Ensure compliance with copyright laws and regulations in the creation and dissemination of content.
  • Web Presence & Engagement: Maintain and update our website, social media, and other online platforms to engage with patients and stakeholders.
  • Patient Education Materials: Create high-quality educational resources for patients, including brochures, videos, and webinars.
  • Content Management: Manage and maintain our database, Shore Point, and HTML environment to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Literature Search: Conduct thorough searches of academic databases and literature to inform patient care and education.
Major Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Supporting outcomes for multiple operational needs, including subject guides, patient education publications, and educational/training content.
  • Applying plain language standards, editorial copyediting standards, and HTML coding skills to create engaging content.
  • Assisting patrons with technical troubleshooting and providing exceptional customer service.
About You

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Successful completion of a recognized Library and Information Technician Program.
  • Minimum of 2 years library experience or equivalent required.
  • Recent Health Science Library experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe Products, HTML coding, database management, CANVA, and e-learning authoring software preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and develop working relationships with counterparts within the organization.
Benefits and Compensation

We offer a competitive salary range of $23.19 - $26.24 hourly and $42,000 - $47,000 annually, as well as benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, and a defined benefit pension plan.
