Mental Health Nurse

About the Role:
The Inpatient Psychiatric Unit at Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital is seeking a self-directed and motivated Registered Nurse/RPN to join our interdisciplinary team. As a key member of our team, you will provide nursing care to psychiatric patients, working independently and collaboratively with other healthcare providers to enhance the quality of life for patients and their families.
As a Registered Nurse/RPN on our unit, you will have the opportunity to work with a diverse range of patients, including those with acute mental health challenges. You will be responsible for providing individualized care, consulting with other healthcare professionals, and participating in ongoing education and professional development to maintain and advance your clinical competence.
We are an interdisciplinary team that places a high emphasis on wellness, teaching patients about nutrition, exercise, medications, therapy, relapse prevention, and other wellness strategies. Our team works closely with the Community Mental Health and Substance Use programs to support patients in their transition back to the community.
This is a casual opportunity, with hours not guaranteed and shifts may be at short notice. However, casual employees are eligible to apply for internal postings, including permanent and temporary positions. About this Location/Unit:
Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital is located in Trail, BC, and the Daly Pavilion Psychiatry Unit has 12 busy beds, providing support to ER and the hospital for mental health and addictions clients. Trail is a quaint city known for its great outdoors and is an ideal place to live, work, and play.
