Job Summary:

Gordon Food Service is seeking a skilled Custodian to maintain the cleanliness and organization of our facilities. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring a safe and healthy work environment for our employees.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the facility and associated paperwork to meet AIB and other food safety standards.

  • Sweep, mop, scrub, and vacuum hallways, stairs, and office spaces within the distribution center.

  • Empty trash and garbage containers and clean snow and debris from walkways.

  • Perform inspections of equipment and report findings.

  • Mow lawn, trim shrubbery, and cultivate flowers.

  • Remove, charge, transport, and install hi-lo (forklift) batteries in the warehouse.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Employees in all warehouse positions must be able to immediately perceive auditory warning signals such as bells, alarms, and horns that are used to warn employees of the start-up, movement, or approach of equipment (including forklifts, turrets, overhead cranes, conveyors, trucks, and other equipment operated inside or outside the warehouse), mechanical abnormalities, and similar risk situations during warehouse operations.

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.

  • Ability to read and understand information on a Material Safety Data Sheet, and adhere to safety regulations and procedures.

  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.

  • Must be able to operate powered industrial vehicle (PIV), vacuum cleaner, lawn mower, gardening tools, and other various types of equipment.

  • Must have basic computer skills utilizing Windows-based software.
