Wine Director

As a Wine Director at Marriott International, you will be responsible for leading a team to create unique guest experiences that draw hotel guests and patrons from the surrounding community. You will work closely with a team of inspiring professionals and mentor aspiring mixologists, setting the standard for original wine and beverage programs, creatively positioning the outlet in the local market, and driving topline and guest growth.
Key Responsibilities- Wine and Beverage Management: Understand financial opportunities by surveying wine and beverage demand, consult with key individuals in the local community to assess opportunities, control purchases and inventory, negotiate prices and contracts, develop preferred supplier lists, review and evaluate usage reports, and take corrective action as necessary.
- Guest Outreach: Collaborate with the Director of Marketing by assisting with marketing, advertising, public and community relations programs, evaluating program results, and identifying and tracking changing demands. Serve as the primary point of contact for any wine or beverage related events.
- Guest Experiences: Create long-term professional relationships with guest clientele, empower employees to provide unrivaled guest service, interact with guests to obtain feedback on product quality and service levels, and respond effectively to guest challenges and complaints.
- Operations: Manage the wine and beverage program in compliance with all local, state, and federal beverage and liquor laws, comprehend budgets, operating statements, and assist with payroll progress reports as needed to assist in the financial management of the department.
- Education: High school diploma or GED; 4 years experience in the food and beverage, culinary, or related professional area.
- Certifications: Smart Serve Certification. Minimum WSET Level 3 and/or accredited Sommelier Certification.
- Schedule: Schedule as per business needs including afternoons, late nights, weekends, and holidays.
