Job OpportunityWe are seeking a hands-on lawyer with strong business acumen to join our team as an Associate General Counsel. The ideal candidate will reside in the GTA area, with approximately 3 days of in-office work per week at our Toronto Corporate Office.
The successful candidate will provide expert legal advice on corporate and commercial matters, helping to mitigate risk and support strategic initiatives. They will collaborate closely with stakeholders to devise creative solutions, leveraging sharp analytical skills and excellent judgment.
Responsibilities- Provide critical legal guidance to various business units, covering new product launches, marketing, consumer matters, regulatory compliance, and litigation management.
- Oversee the company's litigation function, working alongside an in-house paralegal and external counsel as needed to ensure cost-effectiveness and efficiency.
To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:
- A law degree from a Canadian law school.
- Membership in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
- At least 8 years of combined experience at law firms or in-house departments, with expertise in financial services.
- Familiarity with technology product launches and the ability to translate legal advice into actionable guidance.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills, with a proven ability to balance risk mitigation against key business objectives.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
