ROLE SUMMARY:
The primary responsibility of this position is to assist teaching personnel in the preparation, presentation, and supervision of laboratory work, field work, and workshops within an Electronics laboratory. This includes performing technical functions related to the maintenance, calibration, repair, modification, and installation of systems, equipment, and instruments.

DUTIES:
  • Adapt existing equipment to meet the demands of new technologies employed within the Electronics department.
  • Purchase parts, tools, and equipment manuals for the repair of equipment within the Electronics laboratory.
  • Assist teaching staff in preparing equipment for laboratory sessions.
  • Supervise activities related to laboratory sessions, training courses, or workshops.
  • Be available for repairs during laboratory sessions.
  • Ensure the proper storage and functioning of equipment.
  • Maintain the inventory of equipment and supplies.
  • Participate in selecting equipment for the Electronics laboratory.
  • Obtain quotes for the purchase of equipment.
  • Complete purchase orders for signature.
  • Examine, assemble, install, and test new equipment.
  • Perform installation and, where possible, repairs and maintenance of all equipment within the Electronics laboratory.
  • Train less experienced technicians and coordinate the work of other support employees involved in programs or technical operations.
  • Responsible for WHMIS tracking.
  • Perform duties of demonstrator, monitor, and supervisor as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as necessary.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
  • Diploma of Collegial Studies (DEC) or equivalent in an appropriate field of specialization.
  • At least one year of pertinent experience with electronics preparations.
  • Excellent English language skills, and fluency in French is considered an asset.
  • WHMIS certification.
  • First Aid training certification.
  • Information technology knowledge in terms of installing software, upgrading desktops and laptops, configuring routers and switches using command line interfaces.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office is essential.

  • Previous laboratory experience is considered an asset.
  • Previous experience with procurement is considered an asset.
SALARY RANGE (PER HOUR): $26.38 - $35.22
