Job Summary:

GFL Environmental seeks a highly skilled Hazmat Response Specialist to join our TEAP III Verified HAZMAT Emergency Response Team. As a key member of the team, you will provide technical expertise to emergency activations involving dangerous goods.

The successful candidate will be responsible for responding to HAZMAT emergency responses, including rail, road, and fixed facilities. You will also perform chemical transloading, neutralization, and decontamination as required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to HAZMAT emergency responses in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Perform chemical transloading, neutralization, and decontamination as required.
  • Assist with organizing resources for emergency responses, including personnel, equipment, and documentation.
  • Ensure all emergency response equipment is operationally ready.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of emergency responses.
  • Participate in live training events and specialized projects as required.

Requirements:

  • Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving abstract.
  • Experience in handling and/or transporting hazardous materials or emergency response.
  • Physically fit and able to wear chemical protective clothing and respiratory protection.
  • Ability to work out of town from time to time.
  • Knowledge and/or experience with vacuum trucks and power wash equipment.
