We are seeking a highly skilled Ruminant Nutrition Specialist to join our team at Litherland & Co. in Eastern Ontario.
About the Role:
- The Ruminant Business Consultant will work closely with our Customer Service and Sales teams to provide exceptional advice to farmers on herd management and ruminant nutrition.
- You will conduct farm visits to collect samples, ensure customer satisfaction, and provide product consultations on livestock feed.
- Your expertise in dairy, beef, and small ruminant species will be invaluable in formulating new rations and updating current ones as requested.
- You will also provide technical support to the sales team and collaborate with our nutrition team to update product specs and tags.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct farm visits to collect samples and provide product consultations on livestock feed.
- Perform cold calling and follow-up to generate new business and respond to customer inquiries.
- Formulate new rations and update current ones as requested.
- Provide technical support to the sales team with expertise in dairy, beef, and small ruminant species.
- Collaborate with the nutrition team to update product specs and tags.
- Support new product development through customer feedback and market research.
- Maintain and update product knowledge and participate in training sessions.
- Assist in nutrition training for the sales team and field trial experiments.
- Organize and maintain a database of product, customer, and research data.
- Support quality assurance and quality control programs for feed formulations.
Requirements:
- A BSc focused on animal nutrition or animal health, particularly in dairy cows and/or beef cattle.
- ~4+ years of industry experience in a technical role focused on dairy, beef, and small ruminant species nutrition.
- Knowledge of animal health, nutrition, and crop inputs such as fertilizer and soil testing.
- Experience with feed formulation software programs.
Salary: $80,000 - $100,000 per year (dependent on experience).
Location: Eastern Ontario (with 50-60% travel required).
