Job Summary:
The Canadian Red Cross is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Co-ordinator, Emergency Management to join our team. As a key member of our Emergency Management team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the effective management of emergency responses and community risk reduction initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in the evaluation and planning of emergency response resources, identifying gaps and operational needs at the local level and promoting professional development of volunteer staff.
- Support local teams and encourage participation in volunteer recruitment initiatives to achieve set targets within a designated geographic area.
- Ensure the execution of local volunteer welcome and orientation activities specific to each program.
- Implement and orient volunteer engagement activities related to each program through regular communications, initiatives, and informal recognition; support centralized engagement and recognition activities, including those developed and implemented by the Volunteer Experience and Engagement Manager.
- Ensure volunteer time sheets are submitted in HumaniT and inform relevant stakeholders of any necessary updates to volunteer files in the volunteer database.
- Coordinate emergency preparedness activities using a 'all-hazards' approach, with a focus on key risk factors in the assigned area, in accordance with CRC standards.
- Participate in the compilation of provincial statistics by gathering local data and statistics and producing reports as needed for the Emergency Management (EM) Director.
- Support the Supply Chain and Logistics team by participating virtually in the management of emergency response resources (vehicles, information, and EM resources).
- Provide virtual support for the tracking of activities and financial assets (payment and gift card management, etc.).
- Play a critical role in local, provincial, and national emergency responses, as needed, and support the EM Virtual Response Team by following up with the Operations Manager and ensuring communication with this person.
- Establish partnerships with key stakeholders, including municipal and local government representatives, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), police services, and fire services, as well as community leaders, in an ongoing effort to improve community capacity for intervention.
Requirements:
- Hold a degree from a university or community college in one or more of the following fields: project management, community development, volunteer resource management, planning and evaluation, or a related field.
- Have at least three years of experience acquired within community programs, as well as confirmed experience in community and municipal-level relationship development and management.
- Have a solid understanding of the community targeted by the position.
- Have confirmed work experience in developing and implementing plans and exercises.
- Experience in emergency management is an asset.
Work Conditions:
- The majority of work will be done in a clean and comfortable environment. Work modalities (telework, office) will take into account the resources, tools, and environment required to accomplish the work effectively.
- The selected candidate must be able to work non-traditional hours and occasionally in the evening and on weekends, and participate in on-call rotations.
- They must have access to transportation to attend in-person meetings or participate in field interventions.
