Job Opportunity

We are seeking a highly qualified individual to fill a tenure-stream position in the area of Global China at the University of Toronto's Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy.

About the Position

The successful candidate will be appointed as an Associate Professor or Professor, with an expected start date of July 1, 2025. The position comes with the endowed Munk Chair in Global China for a five-year term, which will be renewable following a favourable review.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct innovative and independent research at the highest international level and maintain an outstanding, competitive, externally funded research program.
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses, including in the Munk School's professional graduate programs, to students from a wide range of academic backgrounds and interests.
  • Expand teaching capacity in the Asian Institute Collaborative Master's Specialization in Contemporary East and Southeast Asian Studies and the Dr. David Chu program in Contemporary Asian Studies.
Requirements

Applicants must have earned a Ph.D. in any social sciences field relating to Global China or a related area such as Economics, History, Law, Political Science, Sociology. The successful candidate will have an established international reputation and a demonstrated exceptional record of excellence in research and teaching.
