We are seeking an experienced Reliable Control Systems Engineer to join our team in Kitimat, BC. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled professional to be part of history, working on the largest LNG project in North America.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to apply their skills and knowledge in a challenging environment, learn from a diverse team of highly experienced industry professionals and mentors, and contribute to the safe and efficient operation of the LNGC facilities.

The position requires strong understanding of process safety concepts, including HAZOP, LOPA, and risk assessments, as well as in-depth knowledge of Functional Safety Standards (IEC 61508 and IEC 61511).

You will work closely with other teams to ensure that all aspects of control and safeguarding systems meet project requirements and standards.

This role is suitable for individuals who thrive in fast-paced environments and are willing to adapt to changing circumstances. The ideal candidate should possess excellent problem-solving skills, analytical abilities, and strong communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support operations and interfaces on safeguarding schemes whenever needed
  • Participate in troubleshooting, maintaining, and continuous improvement of instrumented safety critical elements in the facility
  • Develop and implement solutions to optimize processes and improve safety performance standards
  • Ensure documents, such as control and IPF narratives, functional design specifications, etc., are maintained and up-to-date
  • Collaborate with other teams to ensure compliance with project requirements and standards

Requirements:

  • University degree or equivalent in Control Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical engineering, Applied Physics, or Mathematics
  • 8+ years of experience working with SIS in the process or oil and gas industries
  • In-depth knowledge of Functional Safety Standard (IEC 61508 and IEC 61511)
  • Strong understanding of Process Safety concept such as HAZOP, LOPA, and risk assessments
  • 2+ years of Yokogawa Centum VP and Yokogawa ProSafe experience
  • Certification in Functional Safety (TUV, CFSE, or equivalent) is preferred
