The CSU Support – Safety Instrumented Systems Specialist role involves providing process control and safeguarding functionality for safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the LNGC facilities during Commissioning and Start-up phases. Key responsibilities include troubleshooting, maintaining, and improving instrumented safety critical elements, such as Fire & Gas systems, Instrumented Protection Systems, and Burner Management Systems.

To succeed in this position, you will need to demonstrate:

  • A good understanding of Safety performance standards requirements and a deep appreciation for technical safety.
  • A strong positive attitude towards managing change and improvement in dynamic processes and ways of working.
  • Strong working relationships within and outside the team, stakeholders, and a One Team approach with multi-disciplinary integration.

  • Courage to hold strong views when challenged or challenging others with clear value drivers to preserve long-term asset value.

You will utilize your expertise to:

  • Support operations and other interfaces on safeguarding schemes whenever needed.
  • Support SIS activities, including Online modifications, Trip investigation & trouble shooting, Alarm management support, and Documentation support.
  • Support SIS Authorities in functional and detailed design, development, testing, safe and smooth implementation of Management of Change (MOC) with process control and safeguarding scope as needed.
  • Proactively get involved in CSU and ramp-up related activities while being an active member of the ADT (Asset Delivery Team).
  • Provide high-quality support for process control and improvement of control and safeguarding systems for the LNGC and interfaces.
  • Deliver SIS aspects of LNGC in accordance with project HSE, technical standards, quality standards, and procedures as defined in the Contract and Project Specification.
  • Optimize processes via techniques to improve safety performance standard and maintain Safety Integrity Levels (SIL).
  • Review Safeguarding content of plant modifications/changes and instrument trip/alarm settings to ensure plant integrity remains ensured and design objectives are met.
  • Maintain documents, i.e., control and IPF narratives, Functional design specifications, etc., and accurately keep as-built comments. Participate in required HSE activities (audits, meetings, etc.) and demonstrate safe work practices and procedures to contractors at all times.
  • Support the implementation of control and safeguarding functionality in DCS and SIS.

This role requires that you:

  • Live and work in beautiful Kitimat, BC.
  • Work 50 hours per week, 10-hour days, which may extend to 12-hour day/night shifts during critical start-up activities.
  • Comply with LNGC's drug-free and harassment-free work environment and comply with all safety policies and procedures.
  • Undergo a pre-placement medical assessment of your fitness for duty, a background check, and Pre-Site Access testing for alcohol and specified drugs.
  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada (i.e., by way of Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, or valid work permit).

Estimated Salary: $120,000 - $150,000 per annum, depending on experience.
