Job Title: Junior UI/UX Designer

We are seeking a talented Junior UI/UX Designer to join our team at Saatchi & Saatchi Toronto, a leading advertising agency within Publicis Groupe. As a Junior UI/UX Designer, you will play a key role in creating visually exciting and seamless online experiences for our clients.

Responsibilities:
  • Learn and understand our team's internal processes, collaborative tools, and version control systems through team and personal training activities.
  • Design and output assets necessary for projects, ranging from full conceptualization of a new section to minor page updates within existing frameworks and applying style guides.
  • Manipulate photo assets through crops, compositions, and basic retouching techniques as required.
  • Produce and present wireframes, prototypes, and mock-ups in Figma to effectively communicate design and functionality to the team and the client.
  • Lay out screen breakpoints and apply grid layouts to ensure accuracy and consistency in development.
  • Give and receive constructive, detailed input and feedback to your colleagues during brainstorms and internal design reviews.
  • Collaborate with our in-house development team to ensure projects meet prescribed design guidelines, working together to resolve design/developer obstacles and concerns.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a UI/UX design role or similar, with a keen focus on best practices in UI/UX.
  • Working knowledge in the following software: Figma, Sketch, and Adobe Suite.
  • Working knowledge in typography, layout, photo manipulation/retouching, and other graphic design fundamentals.
  • Experience in website design for desktop, tablet, and mobile with a mobile-first mindset.
  • Design within consistent design languages and design systems through conceptualization to production.
  • Understanding of how to produce assets for development.
  • Strong communication skills: verbal, written, and the ability to articulate design rationale clearly and convincingly to both clients and colleagues.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and adapt under fast timelines and changing requirements in real-time.
  • Passion for learning, expanding your skillset, and employing the latest digital tools, processes, and technology to keep our clients on the leading edge.
Special Considerations:
  • Knowledge or experience working with AODA compliance standards.
  • Experience with the automotive sector a big plus.
  • Experience working in an agile project management environment.
  • Experience with versioning software (SVN, GitHub, etc.).
  • Familiar with Confluence and Jira.
  • Working knowledge of front-end development; HTML and CSS.
