Research Analyst Pharmacoepidemiology

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Analyst to join our team at the University of British Columbia. The successful candidate will have a strong background in pharmacoepidemiology and experience in data analysis, research planning, and manuscript writing.
The Research Analyst will be responsible for providing research facilitation and analysis for ongoing and future projects, including evaluation of drug policies, monitoring of prescribing habits, and assessing adverse effects in drugs. The candidate will also participate in studies conducted by the Canadian Network for Observational Drug Effect Studies (CNODES) and contribute to planning, data analysis, and interpretation of findings.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of health policy, health services research, and statistics, as well as experience with data management and programming (SAS, R, and SQL). Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential for this role, as the candidate will be working with an interdisciplinary team and presenting research results at academic conferences and stakeholder meetings.
Key Responsibilities
- Research Planning: Develop research proposals, gather and review literature, plan and conduct feasibility analysis, and develop project work plans and timelines.
- Research Analysis: Participate in research project design, develop methodology for data assembly, analysis, and presentation, and use statistical analysis packages to analyze administrative databases.
- Manuscript Writing: Write, edit, and submit research protocols, abstracts, summary reports, and conference submissions, as well as articles for submission to peer-reviewed journals.
- Communication: Maintain collaboration and manage differences of opinion among team members, and develop and maintain an efficient communication system.
- Knowledge Translation and Exchange: Present research results at academic conferences and stakeholder meetings, write articles for submission to peer-reviewed journals, and make decisions regarding content of manuscripts.
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline.
- Minimum of three years of related experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong understanding of health policy, health services research, and statistics.
- Experience with data management and programming (SAS, R, and SQL).
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduate degree with successful completion of quantitative methods courses.
- Experience in manuscript writing and authorship or co-authorship of scholarly publications on health care.
- Ability to design, complete, and publish a research project in pharmacoepidemiology.

The Research Analyst will work in a dynamic and interdisciplinary team environment, with opportunities for professional growth and development. The successful candidate will be based at the University of British Columbia and will be required to work independently with minimal supervision.
