Societe Generale, a leading global banking group, is seeking an experienced Trade Surveillance Specialist to join its Compliance Department in Montreal.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for monitoring security transactions for compliance with Exchange rules, participating in regional and global projects aimed at enhancing the Trade Surveillance program, and contributing to the development of new surveillance scenarios and minimum standards.

This role offers a unique opportunity to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, collaborating with colleagues across various business units to mitigate regulatory and reputational risks.

In this position, you will have the chance to make a significant impact on Societe Generale's Compliance program, ensuring the firm's operations are aligned with industry regulations and best practices.

We offer a competitive salary of $80,000 per year, as well as a comprehensive benefits package, including 20 vacation days, supportive maternity and paternity leave policies, and access to ongoing training and development programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Review trade surveillance alerts and escalate issues to relevant stakeholders for investigation and resolution
  • Participate in the development, testing, and implementation of new surveillance scenarios and minimum standards
  • Quality assure and reasonability test surveillance controls
  • Contribute to the preparation of management metrics and reports
  • Participate in regional and global compliance initiatives and investigations
  • Assist with the review and analysis of new and/or amended industry rules and regulations
  • Assist with new business initiatives and their potential impact on the surveillance program

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • 1-3 years of experience in trade surveillance, general compliance, or financial services
  • Strong knowledge of applicable regulations relating to Banking, Broker-Dealer, and Futures Commission Merchant activity
  • Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment
  • Self-starter with the aptitude to work independently and in a team setting
  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
