Job Title: Chef Accountant/Assistant Controller

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chef Accountant/Assistant Controller to join our team at Randstad Canada. As a key member of our finance department, you will play a critical role in managing the month-end process and accounting operations to ensure timely reporting and decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the timely completion of all month-end accounting tasks and financial reporting.
  • Manage the accurate and prompt preparation of monthly close documents, including maintaining organized files and ensuring reconciliation of all sub-ledger and general ledger accounts for both operational and holding entities.
  • Execute and review month-end reconciliations, such as journal entries, bank reconciliations, and other related tasks.
  • Reconcile month-end inventory accounts, prepare necessary inventory adjustments, and monitor consignment account activity.
  • Contribute to the development of the company's budget.
  • Conduct preliminary analysis of monthly financial results against budget projections.
  • Prepare weekly updates on cash flow status.
  • Handle the preparation and submission of monthly sales tax returns.
  • Establish and enhance internal controls and procedures to optimize efficiency.
  • Assist in year-end activities, including inventory counts and audits.
  • Maintain and update accounting procedure manuals and financial policies, including database management.
  • Support the Controller on special projects and ad hoc initiatives as needed.
  • Provide backup support for Accounts Receivable, Order Entry, and Accounts Payable functions when required.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
  • CPA (an asset).
  • Bilingual (strong English).
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Experience working with an ERP.
