Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Forklift Operator to join our team at CanWel Building Materials in Prince George, BC. As a Forklift Operator, you will be responsible for efficiently and accurately assembling products for customer orders, loading orders onto trucks/railcars, and performing various tasks to support production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Load and unload building material supplies safely and promptly onto and from delivery trucks.
  • Accurately and efficiently pick and assemble customer orders for staging.
  • Set up lumber for wrapping and loading onto trucks.
  • Load and unload treating carts and production infeed and outfeeds as needed.
  • Assist with general labor tasks as required.
  • Maintain a clean and organized outside yard.
  • Adhere to all work safety rules and regulations.
  • Provide excellent customer service.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Forklift Certification is required.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience on forklifts is desirable.
  • Experience working in a lumber mill or lumber yard is desirable.
  • Must have own steel-toed boots.
  • Familiar with pulling and staging orders is desirable.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds or 23 kilograms.
  • Bending, lifting, and reaching during the course of the shift.
  • Punctual and reliable for shifts.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write English.

Education

  • High school graduation is preferred.
  • Background in Forestry, Wood Processing is an asset.

Hours of Work

  • Monday to Thursday 6:00 am – 4:30 pm or Monday to Friday 7am-3:30pm.
